In order for the Illinois Department of Transportation to develop a safe transportation solution that meets the needs of the community, it will need the help of public stakeholders (you). In order to draw out the greatest value from public participation, the IL Route 31 improvement project is incorporating a Stakeholder Involvement Plan (SIP).
The SIP will be used as a blueprint for defining methods and tools to educate and engage all stakeholders in the decision making process for this project. The SIP has been developed to ensure that stakeholders are provided a number of opportunities to be informed, engaged, and provide input as the progress progresses. The goal of the SIP is to actively seek the participation of communities, agencies, individual interest groups, and the general public throughout the project development process. The SIP provides the framework for achieving consensus on issues and alternatives, identifies stakeholders in the study area, defines roles and responsibilities of study participants, and establishes a timing of stakeholder activities.
The SIP will be continuously updated as the project moves forward through the Phase I study process. A copy of the SIP for the IL 31 project is available for download in the Project Documents section of this website.
